During the pandemic, many people have felt a little down and that’s okay. But what’s important for you and the people that surround you, is to lift your spirits and to be happy. There are many things to do to be and stay happy but there will be very few that appeal to you. We were quarantined for six long months for our physical health but we should also maintain our mental health because it is just as important. So instead of waiting for the right activity and sulking, do some trial and error! These are just some things that I do that makes me happy.
I love to play sports because of how much fun it is. It also provides a small workout is you are playing an active sport. When you exercise, your brain releases endorphins that reduce your pain factor and trigger a positive feeling as well. There are many sports in this world and most of those are not active sports like bowling, water polo, golf and many more. If you don’t like sports, try exercising with a regular routine. Those who exercise get way healthier than most people and if you exercise from a young age, then you will build good habits and routines that are crucial for your future.
I play the guitar and that makes my feelings of sadness fade away. Music is an art that we should all have in our life because Art in any form, whether while creating or observing, reduces the stress hormone called cortisol. It also releases the feel-good hormones called endorphins which help you combat stress and pain. By letting you enjoy a sense of fulfilment, it transforms you into a more positive, well-rounded human being.
I have been grumpy sometimes during this pandemic but these two things have always lifted my spirits so try something new. No harm, no foul!
